GE Aerospace
Pioneering aerospace innovation in India, for India and the world
For more than 40 years, GE Aerospace has been at the forefront of India’s aviation sector. From the first CF6-50C2 engines lifting an Air India Airbus in 1982 to the commissioning of the Indian Navy's INS Vikrant aircraft carrier powered by GE Aerospace's LM2500 engine in 2024, our journey in India showcases a commitment to innovation, local manufacturing, and global competitiveness.

We are proud to support Indian self-reliance by contributing to key military and commercial platforms.

A trusted partner to leading airlines, GE Aerospace has made significant contributions to India’s commercial aviation sector. Our CFM56 and LEAP engines, developed by CFM International*, power the narrow-body fleets of airlines such as IndiGo and Air India.

We are proud to support critical Indian defense assets, including the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, equipped with our F404 and F414 engines.

Our long-standing partnerships with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the Defense Research and Development Organisation, and its Aeronautical Development Agency are driving local advancements in defense technologies.

*CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines.

Advancing local aerospace manufacturing and research

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Our Multi-modal Manufacturing Facility (MMF) in Pune plays a crucial role in manufacturing key aerospace components, supporting not only India’s defense and commercial sectors but also global aviation supply chains. Our relationships with Indian suppliers, combined with our world-class local facilities and global reach, continue to shape India’s aerospace ecosystem.

With a foundation built over decades and anchored in strong partnerships, GE Aerospace remains committed to making in India, for India and the world.
