Advancing local aerospace manufacturing
Our Multi-modal Manufacturing Facility (MMF) in Pune plays a crucial role in manufacturing key aerospace components, supporting not only India’s defense and commercial sectors but also global aviation supply chains. Our relationships with Indian suppliers, combined with our world-class local facilities and global reach, continue to shape India’s aerospace ecosystem.
Since its establishment in 2000, the JFWTC in Bengaluru has been a hotbed of advanced aerospace engineering and research. Every day, the engineers and technologists at JFWTC push the boundaries of innovation, leveraging their expertise to solve complex aerospace challenges and drive technological breakthroughs.
JFWTC’s co-located engineering, digital, and research teams have played a key role in developing advanced commercial engines like the GEnx, GE9X, and LEAP. They also have contributed to innovations in aviation materials, additive technologies, and sustainable aviation. Since its inception, the engineering and research teams at JFWTC have contributed to more than 1,000 aviation patents.
Pioneering aerospace technology in the region, JFWTC is reimagining aircraft engine design and sustainability through the CFM* Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines (RISE) program. RISE is also leveraging the power of AI to enhance engine efficiency, quality, and reliability.
*CFM International is a 50-50 joint company between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines. RISE is a registered trademark of CFM.
Our MMF in Pune was established in 2015 with an investment of $200 million. The facility exemplifies our commitment to shaping the future of flight with advanced technology. At MMF Pune, we produce components for various GE Aerospace and partner engine platforms, including LEAP, G90, GEnx, and GE9X, the world’s most powerful commercial engine.
Partnering with Indian suppliers, we harness local expertise to meet the rapidly growing demand for aerospace components across the globe. Together, we are building a robust, local, and self-reliant supply chain, while propelling the future of aerospace manufacturing forward.
Certified under ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, the facility has set a benchmark in sustainable manufacturing. With 25% of its power sourced from renewable resources and zero liquid discharge, it is recognized for its environmental best practices. It recycles and reuses 10 million liters of water annually and processes 20 metric tons of plastic, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.
In April 2024, we invested more than $28 million to expand this facility and drive new projects and advanced manufacturing processes. Supported by 13 supplier and partner facilities across India, the MMF Pune strengthens our leadership in aerospace manufacturing, continually advancing our capabilities and impact on global aviation.
