Singapore Airlines Signs OnPointSM Solutions Agreement with GE

EVENDALE, Ohio - Singapore Airlines (SIA) signed a 10-year OnPointSM Solutions service agreement with General Electric Company for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of GE90-115B engines that will power 19 Boeing 777-300ERs, which enter service in 2006. The agreement is the first GE90 OnPoint Solutions service agreement. 

"We are very excited that a world-class carrier like SIA has selected GE as its maintenance provider," says Dan Heintzelman, president of Engine Services at GE Transportation. "SIA is known in the industry for its outstanding customer service, and we will help ensure its customers remain satisfied with flights aboard GE90-powered aircraft." 

Bey Soo Khiang, Senior Executive Vice President (Operations and Services) at SIA described the agreement as the beginning of a new partnership with GE. "GE has returned as a major supplier to SIA and we are pleased that they are able to provide comprehensive maintenance support for the engine. The agreement helps to align both SIA's and GE's interests in optimizing engine maintenance cost while maintaining our high standards of safety and reliability. By entering into such arrangements, our maintenance costs become more predictable and correspond directly with our operating pattern." 

One of the premium airlines in the world, Singapore Airlines currently operates 90 wide-bodied aircraft comprised of 27 Boeing 747s, 58 Boeing 777s, and 5 Airbus A340-500s. The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be deployed on SIA's long-haul and medium-haul routes. The airline also has firm orders for 10 Airbus A380s.
