Lauda Air Awards $50 Million Maintenance Contract

EVENDALE, Ohio - Lauda Air, based in Vienna, Austria, has awarded to GE Engine Services Inc. a 10-year Maintenance Cost Per Hour (MCPHSM) contract covering maintenance, repair, and overhaul of GE90 engines powering Lauda's four Boeing 777-200 aircraft. The MCPH contract is valued at more than $50 million.

Delivery of the first 777 to Lauda Air is scheduled for September 1997, with the remaining three aircraft to be delivered by the year 2001.

"These new aircraft will provide an important long-distance service for Lauda Air," said Otmar Lenz, chief executive officer at Lauda Air. "We are pleased to have reached an agreement with GE for the maintenance of these new GE90 engines."

"This contract builds upon the growing, long-term relationship between Lauda Air and GE," said Bill Vareschi, president of GE Engine Services. "We are committed to providing the airline with the highest quality and most reliable engine service in the industry."

The GE90 maintenance and overhaul work will be performed at GE's overhaul and repair facility in Wales, UK.
