KLM E&M Signs Material Solutions Agreement with GE Aviation

LE BOURGET -- KLM Engineering and Maintenance (KLM E&M) signed a five-year material agreement with GE Aviation to support its CF6-50 engine overhaul operation. The agreement includes both new and used material that will be used on CF6-50 engines overhauled at KLM E&M. 



"This agreement is instrumental in structurally shortening our engine turnaround time," explained Peter Somers, Executive Vice President KLM E&M. "We are able to reduce our inventory carrying costs and substantially improve our material acquisition turn time. This agreement emphasizes the successful cooperation between GE Aviation, Air France Industries and KLM E&M." 



"This total material solution is a great example of how GE works with its customers to create a unique solution to meet their maintenance needs," said Bill Millhaem, general manager of Material Services at GE Aviation. "By utilizing our new Amsterdam materials warehouse that will open in August, we can help KLM E&M to speed up its engine overhaul process. This agreement further strengthens our maintenance relationship with KLM E&M, which is celebrating its five year anniversary this month."
