GE Engine Services to Perform Cycle Engine Maintenance for FedEx Express

May 08, 2002

EVENDALE, OHIO - GE Engine Services (GEES), a division of GE Aircraft Engines, has been awarded a 20-year contract by Federal Express Corporation (FedEx Express) to perform per cycle engine maintenance under a new Engine Maintenance Agreement.

The contract calls for GEES to maintain the CF6-80A3 engines powering FedEx's fleet of 31 Airbus A310-203F freighter aircraft. GEES currently maintains FedEx's fleet of CF6-6-powered DC-10 and MD-10 freighter aircraft under a flat-rate-per-engine-hour MCPH contract.

Through GE's extensive services network, engineering resources, and program management expertise, customers have the option to maintain their fleets based on a flat rate per engine cycle or hour, enabling the customer to forecast operating costs with greater accuracy.

Maintenance and restoration work will be conducted at GE Caledonian Ltd. in Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland.
