GE Engine Services Awarded $36 Million Contract by Continental Airlines

Evendale, Ohio - GE Engine Services (GEES) has been awarded a $36 million, eight-year agreement with Continental Airlines to extend the scope of an existing Maintenance Cost Per HourSM (MCPHSM) contract.The agreement calls for GE to repair line-replaceable engine components for Continental's entire fleet of 131 CFM56-3 powered Boeing 737 aircraft under GE's Line-Replaceable Unit Maintenance Cost Per HourSM (LRU-MCPHSM) program. Line-replaceable components include electrical, hydraulic, fuel, lubrication and pneumatic systems that are maintained without removing the engine from the aircraft."We are happy to expand our agreement to maintain Continental's CFM56-3 fleet," said George Oliver, president and CEO of GE Engine Services. "The expansion of our agreement to include line-replaceable components demonstrates GE's commitment to providing comprehensive, low-risk maintenance support solutions that benefit the customer."Continental's original 10-year MCPH agreement was initiated in 1999 and covers repair and overhaul maintenance costs associated with engine shop visits. Maintenance and overhaul work is being conducted at GE's Strother facility, near Arkansas City, Kansas.GE Engine Services, with 2000 revenues of $6.5 billion is a global provider of maintenance and support services for operators of GE and non-GE engines.
