GE Engine Services Awarded $20 Million Maintenance Contract By AirAsia

EVENDALE, OHIO/MALAYSIA - GE Engine Services (GEES) has been awarded a five-year agreement by AirAsia to perform engine maintenance for its fleet of CFM56-3 engines, valued at over $20 million. 



The agreement calls for GEES to maintain the CFM56-3 engines powering AirAsia's fleet of five Boeing 737-300 aircraft. Maintenance and overhaul work will be conducted at GE Engine Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in Subang, Malaysia.

GE Engine Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is a GEES joint venture with Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and is Asia's largest CFM56 engine overhaul service provider. The facility specializes in the overhaul and repair of CFM56, and PW4000 engines for MAS and other Asia-Pacific airlines at its facility at SAAS Airport, Subang, Malaysia. 



AirAsia is Malaysia's second national carrier and Asia's first low fare no frills airline. AirAsia conducts point-to-point flights in Malaysia and has 26 flights a week to Kota Kinabalu, 28 flights a week to Kuching, 2 flights a week to Labuan, 7 flights a week to Langkawi, 14 flights a week to Penang and Kota Bharu respectively, and 14 flights a week to Miri.
