FedEx Express Contract Extension With GE Engine Services Valued At $1.5 Billion

EVENDALE, OHIO - In a transaction valued at approximately $1.5 billion, FedEx Express extended for an additional 10 years the Maintenance Cost Per HourSM (MCPHSM) contract under which GE Engine Services refurbishes and repairs the CF6-6 engines powering FedEx Express' fleet of DC-10 and MD-10 freighters.Engine refurbishment and repair will include the installation of GE's HT90 turbine upgrade, in which parts durability is increased, resulting in increased time on wing and lower maintenance costs."We are extremely pleased with FedEx Express' decision to extend the current program," said Rex Williams, general manager of Fleet Management Operations for GE Engine Services.
