Myanmar National Airlines Signs GE’s OnPoint Solution Agreement for CFM56 Engines

LE BOURGET -- Myanmar National Airlines signed an exclusive OnPointSM solution agreement with GE Aviation that covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 12 CFM56*-7B engines that will power the airline’s new fleet of Boeing 737 Next-Generation aircraft. The agreement is valued at more than $60 million (USD) over the life of the agreement.

“We look forward to flying the CFM56-7B engines, which are well known for their reliability and time on wing,” said Captain Than Tun, CEO of Myanmar National Airlines. “Myanmar selected GE as the engine’s service provider based on its expertise in workscoping to optimize cost of ownership and the proximity of the GE Malaysia service facility to our headquarters.”

Myanmar National Airlines is the national flag carrier of Myanmar and has the most extensive domestic route network. The airline has been in existence for more than 65 years and is one of the oldest and most experienced airlines in Asia. The carrier launched its new domestic service in 2014 with fixed schedules, state-of-the-art Reservations and Airport Systems, a Premium Economy on its CF34-powered Embraer 190 aircraft and upgraded food and inflight service throughout the fleet. In 2015, Myanmar will resume International service and introduce its new CFM56-powered Boeing 737 aircraft into its fleet.
