GE T700 Engines Selected to Power Singapore Apache Helicopters

April 06, 1999

LYNN, Massachusetts - The Government of Singapore has selected General Electric T700-GE-701C turboshaft engines to power its eight new Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters.

This order once again affirms the T700 as the engine of choice for Apache operators, based on superior performance, proven experience, high reliability, low maintenance costs, and interoperability with other U.S. and international Apache operators.

The T700, proven reliable in a variety of environments ranging from the deserts of Saudi Arabia to the harsh cold of the South Pole, is now the most widely used engine in its class. More than 11,000 have been produced for 129 customers in 54 countries throughout the world, powering 24 models of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.

Growth derivatives of the T700, featuring a full authority digital electronic control (FADEC) and advanced-technology turbomachinery, are being certified for the NH Industries NH90 and Sikorsky S-92. Flight testing on both aircraft is proceeding according to schedule.
