GE Aircraft Engines Awarded Multi-Year Contract Valued at More Than $200 Million

September 11, 1997

LYNN, Massachusetts -- GE Aircraft Engines has been awarded a U.S. Department of Defense multi-year contract, with a potential value of $200 million, for a total of more than 300 T700-GE-401C and -701C turboshaft engines. The T700-GE-401Cs will power U.S. Navy CH-60 helicopters and the T700-GE-701Cs will power U.S. Air Force HH-60G Pave Hawk and U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

The contract is for the period from 1998 through 2000, with the option for the customer to extend the contract through 2002. Initial procurement is for 36 engines, to be delivered in 1998, but the contract contains provisions for up to 1,200 engines, if required to meet demands.

Turboshaft and turboprop engines in the T700/CT7 family currently power 24 types of civil and military helicopters, regional airliners, military transports, and multipurpose aircraft throughout the world. More than 10,000 engines in service have established a record of outstanding reliability, often in extreme environments, while accumulating nearly 25 million hours of operation.
