EVENDALE, Ohio - Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has selected GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) to power eight new Boeing wide-body aircraft.

As part of a fleet expansion program, PIA ordered GE's GE90-94B engine to power three 777-200ER aircraft. In addition, PIA ordered the higher-thrust GE90-115B engine to power three longer-range Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and the derated GE90-110B1 engine for two 777-200LR aircraft.

Based on the manufacturer's list price, the value of the engine order for the eight GE90-powered 777s exceeds $400 million.

"PIA conducted a very thorough evaluation for the various engines offered for the 777-200ER," said Saeed Ahmad, managing director for Pakistan International Airlines. "The GE90 provides the highest value, reliability and efficiency for the 777."

"GE Aircraft Engines is delighted with PIA's selection," said David Calhoun, president and CEO of GE Aircraft Engines. "This order extends our more-than-20-year successful relationship with PIA."
