Aircraft Purchase Fleet Limited Selects GE's CF6 Engines to Power 12 New A330 Aircraft List Price of Order Totals $400 Million

EVENDALE, OH -- Aircraft Purchase Fleet Limited (APFL), a new aircraft leasing company, has selected GE's CF6-80E1 engines to power its 12 firm and eight option Airbus A330 aircraft. The firm engine order is valued at more than $400 million at list price. Deliveries will begin in 2010. 

APFL, fully controlled by the Italian Toto Group (former owner of the airline Air One until December 2008), was incorporated at the end of 2008 and has been assigned the purchase agreements, formerly executed between Airbus and Air One in relation to more than 100 aircraft to be delivered within 2018. 

APFL has selected GE Aviation as its engines supplier for the A330 aircraft because the advanced technology and the high reliability of the CF6-80E1 engines. 

With more than 400 engines in service, the CF6-80E1 engine continues to attract customers with more than 40 CF6-80E1-powered A330 aircraft on order. 

GE remains committed to the CF6-80E1 engine and continues to invest in technology improvements for the engine. These advancements, along with proactive maintenance and operational procedures, have increased the engine's restored time on wing from 1,500 cycles to 2,500 cycles in the last four years, representing a 67 percent increase. 

In 2006, GE launched the Tech CF6 program, which incorporates advanced technology into the high-pressure turbine (HPT), combustor and high-pressure compressor (HPC) areas. The new HPT technologies include airfoil-cooling advancements that are now standard on all new CF6-80E1 production engines. These turbine advancements improve performance retention over time, which lowers overall fuel burn and corresponding CO2 emissions. The CF6-80E1 also meets the stringent CAEP6 international regulations for emissions such as hydrocarbons, smoke, and oxides of nitrogen with margin.
