The Dubai Airshow grew from a small, civilian trade show in 1986 into one of the largest aviation events in the world with more than 1,300 aircraft manufacturers and suppliers attending the event. It's been a very productive week for GE Aviation and its joint venture CFM international, with approximately $1.6 billion in deals. Here's an overview of some of the deals and news from the show.
Biman Bangladesh Selects GEnx to Power Boeing 787-9 Aircraft
Biman Bangladesh selected GEnx-1B engines to power its two additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The engines are valued at more than $100 million list price. Read more.
Republic of Ghana Intends to Order GEnx Engines for Boeing 787-9 Aircraft
The Republic of Ghana announced its intent to purchase GEnx-1B engines for its three Boeing 787 Dreamliners that will be used to re-launch an airline in the African nation. The engine order is valued at more than $150 million list price.

SAFAIR expands GE's TrueChoice Overhaul Agreement for CFM56 Engines
SAFAIR extended and expanded its TrueChoice™ Overhaul agreement with GE Aviation for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its CFM56-7B* engines that power its fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The new agreement is valued at more than $70 million (USD) over the life of the agreement.

Emirates and GE Aviation Expand Digital Partnership
Dubai GE Aviation and Emirates are working together toward adoption of GE’s electronic Flight Operations Quality Assurance (eFOQA) and Flight Pulse™ among the Emirates pilot community. The proposed project plans to start with Emirates fleet of B777 and A380 aircraft and Emirates pilots. Emirates and GE Aviation intend for FlightPulse and eFOQA to be implemented into Emirates operations in 2020.

EgyptAir and GE Sign Consultancy Memorandum of Understanding
EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering and GE Aviation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for consultancy support of its CFM56-7B maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) efforts. Under the MOU agreement, GE Aviation will provide guidance to help improve the efficiency of EGYPTAIR’s CFM56-7B overhaul processes.

GEnx Celebrates Delivery of 2000th Engine
Just in time for its 15th anniversary, the GEnx Engine Program celebrated the delivery of the 2,000th GEnx engine to Boeing, capping a banner year for the fastest-selling widebody engine GE Aviation has ever produced. “This milestone is a tribute to the past 15 years, as well as springboard for future innovation and applications for the GEnx,” said Mahendra Nair, General Manager for the GEnx program.

Sanad Aerotech Becomes Maintenance Center for LEAP Engines
Sanad Aerotech is the first MRO in the SAMENA region to sign an Agreement with GE to service the LEAP engines platform. Deal is valued at AED 500,000,000 (Five Hundred Millions) over the terms of the contract.

Qatar Airways Places $4 Billion LEAP-1A Engine Order
Qatar Airways announced today that it has ordered CFM International LEAP-1A engines to power its new fleet of 50 Airbus A321neo family aircraft, placing the largest A321neo order ever in the Middle East. In addition, the national airline of the State of Qatar has also signed with CFM a Rate-Per-Flight-Hour (RPFH) support agreement to cover its entire fleet of LEAP-1A engines, including spares, for a combined total value of $4 billion U.S. at list price.
