Despite market ebbs and flows and myriad challenges that surface, GE Aviation’s commitment to first-rate customer support has always remained steadfast. There is no more clear-cut validation to this than receipt of direct, pronounced customer recognition, and the Avionics business has a trio of recent accolades to hang its hat on.
1. The Avionics team recently received the V-22 Team Osprey 2020 Distinguished Supplier Award for superior service and contributions to V-22 fleet readiness for the Navy and Marines.
“We are honored to be named the 2020 Distinguished Supplier on the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft,” said Jonathan Brook, Services director, for GE Aviation. “We place high importance on collaborating with and supporting our customers and look forward to further solid teamwork in our capacity as a key supplier to the V-22 Joint Program.”
Specifically, GE Aviation’s Cheltenham UK facility was recognized their recent efforts to improve the supply health of nacelle, wing and avionics bay interface units The interface units allow rapid design modifications to be made and easily introduced to the aircraft, with minimal system disruption and cost to the aircraft program.
2. Airbus bestowed its Best Performer Award in Supply Chain & Quality Improvement to Aviation for a “sustained performance, strong continuous improvement and a customer-oriented approach.”
“We have a strong collaborative relationship with Airbus that demands high standards in shipping quality product on time and consistently,” said Alan Caslavka, president of Avionics for GE Aviation. “This award recognizes the entire team for maintaining a customer-focused approach, while acting quickly to resolve any issues.”
The award relates to supplying Airbus with the datalink control and display unit (DCDU) which is fitted to the Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft. Produced in high volumes at GE’s Cheltenham plant, the site has supplied Airbus with more than 12,000 DCDUs since 1996.
3. And Aviation’s Clearwater, Florida plant was recognized for the third consecutive year by Lockheed Martin for exceptional supplier performance.
“Suppliers are critical members of our industry team, enabling production of the most advanced technologies for our customers,” Abby Lilly, vice president of Global Supply Chain at Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems told suppliers recently. “You achieved this award because you have shown your dedication to delivering on our customers expectation of perfect quality and delivery.”
GE Aviation achieved the Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems Outstanding Supplier status after demonstrating exceptional quality, delivery and customer support performance for the data transfer systems on Sikorsky’s UH-60 Black Hawk aircraft.
